One Month of Bliss!!

We recently got to start our greatest adventure of all. Let me give you a little background to begin.  A woman in another state was pregnant and was considering adoption. Her family had worked with a lawyer in the past so she decided to work with him for her adoption. This lawyer just happens to be LDS and usually works with his own list of families but he said he felt they were not the families and that he should call LDS Family Services. Now during the summer we had been working at the temple in the baptistery. Our case worker came in one time with his ward. We said our hellos and thought nothing more of it. Then in the middle of August we got a call from him. He had got the call from the lawyer and told us there was a mother wanting to adopt. She wanted a closed adoption and that she was due in October and he asked if we were interested. After talking about it we told him that we were. All we could do then is sit and wait.
Over the next few weeks we kept the news on the down low. We didn’t want to get our hopes up if it happened to fall through. We finally heard that the birth mother was ready to deliver and the baby could come soon. He was born at the end of September. We decided to leave that night he was born to go pick him up. Jason worked that day and so I picked him up and we drove through the night. We stopped at a rest stop and slept for a few hours and then got to the hotel and changed and went to the hospital.

When we got there we met with the lawyer and he said that he talked to the birth mom and she wanted to meet us. All of a sudden we got really nervous cause we were told she didn’t want to meet us. We went into an empty room down the hall from her. The baby was having testing done and she wanted him in there when we met. An hour or so later we went into the other room to meet the birth mom and our son. She was there with her mom and aunt and another daughter. We talked about how special he was and how we would make sure we would take care of him. We said our good byes and went back to the other room. We were discharged and went back to the hotel then came back to Denver the next day. We also decided to name him Ben.

1st meeting in the hospital

When we got home we had a lot visitors and a lot of love and support. Some friends were kind enough to through a shower.

He got to meet his grandparents and Dave and Jodi.

We are so excited to have him in our lives. He is laid back and only cries if he is hungry or needs a diaper change. We love him to pieces and enjoy every moment!
